This year’s recognition ceremony honoring individual faculty and staff for outstanding teaching, scholarship and service to Capital University was part of fall 2020 welcome-back celebration held Friday, Sept. 25.

PRAESTANTIA AWARD

Established in 1960 to recognize excellence in teaching as identified by students and faculty colleagues. This is the highest honor that can be given to a Capital University undergraduate faculty member.

HOMER AND ISABELLE COTTERMAN AWARD FOR FACULTY SERVICE TO STUDENTS

Awarded annually to the undergraduate faculty member who, in the judgment of students, faculty, and administration, provides exemplary advising both in the formal and informal sense.

FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Awarded for excellence in scholarship, whereby scholarship is defined as the process of discovery, integration, and application of knowledge or artistic work that contributes to one’s profession.

PART-TIME FACULTY AWARD

One of Capital University’s newest honors, this award recognizes a part-time faculty member whose teaching has made a huge impact on their students.

STELLHORN AWARD

Established in 1985, the Stellhorn Award was created to recognize a Capital faculty, staff or administrator who has displayed exemplary service to the University.
