The Chimes Staff Wins Awards from Ohio News Media Association

The Chimes staff of 2019—2020 won a first-place honor and three more awards today in Division B from the Ohio News Media Association during its virtual convention.

In the Arts and Entertainment Division, The Chimes staff won a first place. 

Current Editor-in-Chief Robert Cumberlander earned a second place for In-Depth Reporting for his work last year on mold in the residence halls.

Alumna Sydney Deibert placed third in the Photojournalism category for her work photographing concerts.

“It’s a blessing to be able to receive these awards, and I want to thank not only my current team, but also those who came before me. Heather Barr and Sydney Deibert laid the foundation for all of this,” Cumberlander said.

Division B is universities of schools with less than 10,000 in enrollment. Some schools in this division include Otterbein University, Xavier University, University of Findlay, and Ohio Northern University.

The Ohio News Media Association was established in 1933 and is a state trade association that represents all of Ohio’s newspapers that qualify for periodicals class mail privileges. www.ohionews.org.
